Get Accredited for DMEPOS Competitive Bidding! In order to participate in the Medicare Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies (DMEPOS) Competitive Bidding Program, suppliers must meet quality standards and be accredited by a CMS-approved Deemed Accreditation Organization. Suppliers that are interested in bidding in the second round of the program must be aware of two key deadlines: - Suppliers must be accredited or have applied for accreditation by May 14, 2008 to submit a bid for the second round of competitive bidding. CMS cannot accept a bid from any supplier that is not accredited or that has not applied for accreditation by May 14, 2008.
- Suppliers will need to be accredited to be awarded a contract. The accreditation deadline for the second round of competitive bidding is October 31, 2008. Suppliers must be accredited before this date to be awarded a contract. Suppliers should apply for accreditation immediately to allow adequate time to process their applications.

DMEPOS Accreditation Quality Standards Public Comment Period The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requests public comments on the revised durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics, and supplies (DMEPOS) quality standards. The quality standards document for comment is available in the downloads section below. The revised sections are underlined in the document. SUMMARY: The 2006 DMEPOS Accreditation Quality Standards have undergone minor revisions and are being posted for a 30-day comment period. Only comments on the revised sections will be considered. DATES: To be assured consideration, comments must be received at the address provided below no later than 5pm eastern time on Tuesday March 18, 2008. ADDRESS: Due to staff and resource limitations, we cannot accept comments by facsimile (FAX) or by hand or courier. You may submit comments in one of two ways (no duplicates, please): - Electronically - Send comments to DMEPOSAccreditation@cms.hhs.gov. Any attachments should be compatible with Microsoft Word.
