Food Stamp Program

> What Makes Your Client Eligible

Your clients may be eligible to receive food stamps if they are:

• Homeless
• Unemployed
• Elderly
• Disabled
• Working for low wages
• Receiving public assistance (welfare) payments
• Receiving disability assistance
• Retired on Social Security

If your clients are receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) or, in some areas, General Assistance, they are already eligible for food stamps. A one- or two-person family will receive at least $10 in food stamp benefits. Larger families might not receive a benefit if their income is too high.
