Report to Congress Town Hall Meeting

Under section 911 of the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act of 2003 (MMA), Congress mandated that the Secretary of Health and Human Services replace the existing Title XVIII contracting authority with the new Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) authority in order to promote competition and flexibility in the administration of the Medicare fee-for-service program.  On February 7, 2005, the Department of Health & Human Services released a Report to Congress that describes the steps the Secretary intends to take to implement the MAC authority and the associated savings resulting from this implementation.

Information related to the release of the Medicare Contracting Reform Report to Congress was discussed at a Town Hall meeting on Friday, February 25, 2005.  An agenda, list of attendees and associated PowerPoint presentation is listed below.
