The Medicare Advantage (MA), Open Enrollment Period (OEP) limitations (also known as "enrollment lock-in") now take effect beginning January 1, 2006. The Medicare Modernization Act (MMA), section 102(a)(1)(A), makes this change by amending the Social Security Act, section 1851(e)(2). This change will be reflected in a future update to Chapter 2 of the Medicare Managed Care Manual as well as the regulations establishing the Medicare Advantage program.
