Medicare HETS 270/271 Submitters and Interested Parties: CMS currently has a moratorium in place that prohibits the addition of new Clearinghouse or Third Party Vendor (TPV) submitters to the Medicare HETS 270/271 system. CMS announces that effective September 2008 Medicare will begin a staggered, scheduled process to gradually lift this moratorium for organizations that previously expressed interest in becoming a Clearinghouse or TPV submitter with the HETS 270/271 system. CMS will begin approaching these prior applicants on a staggered, scheduled basis. CMS will continue this staggered process through the end of the year, with the goal of allowing new applicants (i.e. organizations that had not previously expressed interest in becoming a Clearinghouse or TPV) access to the HETS 270/271 system in early 2009.
