In September 2002, CMS contracted with the Research Triangle Institute to conduct an evaluation of the content of DFC. The Final Report of the Evaluation of the Content Dialysis Facility Compare as submitted to CMS in March of 2004. A revised version of the website, based on findings from the evaluation and integrating more user-friendly "next generation compare" software, was posted in June 2004. CMS is continually reviewing and improving the Dialysis Facility Compare web site to provide information that will enable patients and their family members to participate in their care and treatment decisions, and will provide a valuable resource to the dialysis provider community.
