Section 311:  Special Enrollment Period under Group Health Plans in Case of Termination of Medicaid or CHIP Coverage or Employment-Based Coverage; Coordination of Coverage

Statement Related to Premium Assistance Provision in CHIPRA Sec. 311  Available for download below is a statement on the special enrollment right that CHIPRA provides to employees and their dependents in group health plan coverage.

CHIP Working Group: Section 311(b)(1)(C) of CHIPRA directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services and the Secretary of Labor to jointly establish a Medicaid, CHIP, and Employer-Sponsored Coverage Coordination Working Group ("the CHIP Working Group").  The CHIP Working Group, as chartered, under the legal authority of section 311(b)(1)(C), is also governed by the provisions of the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA), 5 U.S.C. App.  The Children's Health Insurance Program Working Group was established on April 3, 2009.  The link to the Charter and more information about the CHIP Working Group are below.

Federal Register Notice on the establishment of the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) Working Group.  This notice solicits nominations for members of the Working Group.  Nominations for members are due on June 1, 2009.  The version on display on Thursday, April 30th can be accessed under "Related Links."
